QUETTA, Pakistan: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday presided over an important meeting at the Governor House in Quetta to discuss the situation following the terrorist attack at a police training centre last night killing several recruits.

The meeting was attended by Balochistan Governor Muhammad Khan Achakzai, Chief Minister Sanaullah Zehri, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, National Security Adviser Lt. General (retd) Nasser Khan Janjua, Balochistan Home Minister Sarfraz Ahmad Bugti, DG Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) Lt. General Rizwan Akhtar, Commander Southern Command Lt. General Amir Riaz, DG Military Intelligence (MI) Major General Zaki Manj and DGMO Major General Sahir Shamshad.

During the meeting, the prime minister was given a briefing over the tragic incident in Quetta where at least 61 law enforcement agencies’ (LEAs) personnel were martyred and about 124 received wounds.

Three suicide bombers stormed the Police Training Centre in Quetta on Monday night. Two suicide bombers blew themselves up while one was gunned down by Frontier Corps (FC) troops.

Talking to media, the Inspector General FC Balochistan Major General Sher Afghan said that the attackers of police training centre belonged to Lashkar-e-Jhangvi’s (JI) faction Al-Alami who were receiving directions from Afghanistan.

Meanwhile, the prime minister accompanied by the COAS, Commander Southern Command, adviser on national security and the interior minister visited Civil Hospital Quetta on Tuesday afternoon and inquired after the health of the security personnel who injured in the Quetta tragic incident.

Besides, Balochistan governor, Balochistan Chief Minister and other senior high ranking civil and military officials were also present on the occasion.

The prime minister directed the authorities to provide all possible medical assistance to personnel who were injured in the terrorist attack.
