National plan of action to be prepared against terrorism: Peshawar APC

PESHAWAR, Pakistan: An all-party conference was held in Peshawar on Wednesday during which it was decided to prepare a national plan of action against terrorism, and also announced that there will be no discrimination between good and bad Taliban.

The meeting which was held in the wake of the deadliest terror attack of Pakistan’s history in Peshawar on Tuesday, aimed at discussing ways to form a strategy to stop terrorist activities and flush out all terrorists from the country.

In a press conference held after the meeting, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif read out the unanimous resolution adopted in the conference and said that during the meeting the national political leadership reiterated its firm resolve to continue the war against terror till elimination of the last terrorists from Pakistani soil.

During the meeting, the leaders decided to form a committee under the chairmanship of federal interior minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan to prepare a national plan of action against terrorism within a week.

The committee will have one representative each from parliamentary and other political parties. The representatives of the armed forces and intelligence agencies will also be part of the committee.

The national plan of action would be presented before the national political leadership in seven days for approval. It will then be placed before the nation by national political and military leadership.

The meeting resolve that an effective national strategy should be formed and implemented to tackle the menace of terrorism.

The leaders expressed grief over worst tragedy in Peshawar and said that war against terror is our own war.

They noted that the armed forces and security institutions rendered great sacrifices and destroyed numerous hideouts and their network. They said that human tragedy in Peshawar is yet another cowardly act of fleeing terrorists.

Moreover, the resolution lauded the sacrifices of the armed forces during operation Zarb-e-Azb as a result of which the network of terrorists has been broken and their hideouts destroyed. It inflicted heavy losses on the terrorists.

The yesterday’s tragic event was carried out by the fleeing terrorists.

The resolution announced that there will be no discrimination between good and bad Taliban and the war against terror will continue with the national spirit.

The prime minister lauded the confidence reposed on him by all the political leaders during the conference.

Earlier during the meeting, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan proposed constituting a committee of counter terrorism experts, adding that it should submit its report within a week’s time.

The Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Ameer Sirajul-Haq proposed to mark 2015 as a year of peace.

The Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) leader Mushahid Hussain Syed stressed the need for unity among people to control terrorism. He said that if Sri Lanka can eliminate terrorism from its soil why Pakistan cannot do it.

The Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) Sheri Rehman called for capacity building of police force by equipping them with latest equipment.

The Awami National Party (ANP) leader Asfandyar Wali Khan asked political leaders to forget their differences. He said that the prime minister and Imran Khan should be on the page at this critical juncture.
