Narendera Modi to visit China by May 26

BEIJING, China: The Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit China by May 26, the country’s foreign minister Sushma Swaraj told media in Beijing.

Sushma Swaraj reached Beijing on Sunday on a three-day official visit to China for the first time since she took oath of office as India’s external minister in May last year.

Talking to media representatives in Beijing, the Indian foreign minister said that her country remains committed to an early settlement of the border issues with China.

The sources said that the two neighboring countries have begun working on a slew of agreements to reduce differences on all other outstanding issues. They said that the agreements are likely to be finalized during Modi’s visit to Beijing.

“We want it to be an action-oriented visit,” Swaraj told reporters on Sunday.

The two countries have formed a contact group to identify issues that will come up during Narendra Modi’s visit.
