ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Ministry of Interior and Narcotics Control on Friday presented names of 61 proscribed/banned organizations in Upper House of the Parliament, which had been banned to carry out their activities in the country.

Following are the names of banned outfits and dates of their proscription;

  1. Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ) August 14, 2001,

The house was also apprised that two organizations Al-Akhtar Trust and Al-Rashid Trust were enlisted under “UNSCR 1267”, while Jamaat-ul-Daawa (JuD) was under observation since December 1, 2005.

Minister of State for Interior Baligh-ur-Rehman said no organization, that would be found involved in terrorism and extremism activities, would be allowed to operate in the country.

Under the National Action Plan, he said, the ministry and provincial governments had taken appropriate measures to stop banned outfits of re-emerging with new names.
