ISLAMABAD: NADRA chief Tariq Malik announced that a software would be developed in two weeks to enhance the capacity of NADRA regarding verification of thumb prints.

Speaking to reporters here on Monday, Malik said that NADRA would be able to verify up to 500, 000 thumb prints per day after enhancing it capacity at the request of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

He said that a summary would be forwarded to the caretaker government to seek expenses needed for this exercise.

“We have assured our complete cooperation with the commission,” he said.

He added that verification of thumb prints would cost Rs10 to Rs15 per vote.

Speaking on this occasion, ECP Secretary Ishtiaq Ahmed said that demands for verification of votes through thumb prints show people have faith in the commission.
