Elections 2013Musharraf’s APML boycotts general election

ISLAMABAD: Former military ruler Pervez Musharraf’s All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) announced on Friday to boycott the May 11 elections.

The APML will stage sit-ins in front of the Election Commission office and Supreme Court of Pakistan on May 11, the party’s spokesman Muhammad Amjad said at a press  conference in Islamabad on Friday.

“Our candidates will not contest in the general election,” the APML spokesman said. “The rejection of General (retd) Pervez Musharraf’s candidacy papers has resulted in this decision by the party.”

“General Musharraf will face all cases against him and will not run away from any charges,” he said.

To a question, he said that no extra-constitutional step will be taken to secure Musharraf’s release.
