RAWALPINDI: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Rawalpindi said on Tuesday that former military ruler General (retd) Pervez Musharraf is to be indicted on August 6 in the Benazir Bhutto murder case.

Musharraf was presented amidst tight security during today’s hearing of the case headed by ATC judge Habibur Rahman. Copies of records pertaining to the case were made available to the former military strongman and he kept a set of the copies after signing the requisite document.

The court ordered the authorities to produce the former president at the next hearing of the case, adding that he would be indicted on August 6. The case was subsequently adjourned to the said date.

Meanwhile‚ the ATC also reserved judgment in a petition filed by Musharraf against freezing of his accounts and assets.

In related news, the Balochistan High Court on Tuesday rejected bail plea of Pervez Musharraf in a case pertaining to veteran Baloch leader Nawaz Akbar Bugti’s killing in 2006 military operation in Balochistan.

A two-member bench, comprising Justice Ghulam Mustafa Mengal and Justice Naeem Akhtar, heard the case today and rejected pre-arrest bail plea of the former military chief.
