ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The National Assembly members of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) on Thursday submitted separate applications for withdrawal of their resignations from the Lower House of the Parliament.

A delegation of the MQM legislators visited the office of Acting Speaker National Assembly Murtaza Javed Abbasi and submitted the applications.

The senior officers of the National Assembly Secretariat have received the applications from the MQM MNAs, said a press release.

On August 12, the MQM lawmakers had tendered their resignations from the National Assembly, Senate and the Sindh Assembly due to reservations over the Rangers-led operation in Karachi.

Later, the MQM agreed to withdraw its resignations from National and Provincial assemblies and Senate following signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the government. Under the MoU, the federal government agreed to form a complaint redressal committee as demanded by the MQM.
