LAHORE: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) lawmaker Tahira Asif succumbed to her injuries in hospital where she was admitted with multiple bullet injuries after an assassination attempt in Lahore on Wednesday. She took oath as Member of national Assembly on June 1, 2013 against Reserved seats for women. She belongs to MQM.

She was attacked when she left her residence in the Iqbal Town area of Lahore in a car with her son to go to Islamabad but unknown gunmen came on a motorcycle and opened fire on her. Subsequently, she received two bullets in her waist in the attack. The MQM lawmaker was shifted to the Shaikh Zayed Hospital for medical treatment.
