MQM to join Singh govt next week: sources

KARACHI: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) will join the Sindh government next week, the sources said on Saturday.

The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) sources in Sindh said that five ministers and two advisers will be taken from the MQM.

The sources said that the MQM is demanding ministries of Local Bodies or Excise & Taxation in the Sindh government. It is likely that the MQM ministers will be given portfolios of Health, Industries, Sports, Corporation and Information Technology, the sources added.

Earlier, talking to media at the airport in Sukkar, the leader of the opposition in national assembly and PPP senior leader Syed Khurshid Shah said that there was no possibility of the MQM joining the Sindh government.

The opposition leader said that the MQM chief Altaf Hussain is instigating undemocratic forces while his party stands for democracy. He said that Altaf Hussain should understand that democracy in the country has come after long struggle and his undemocratic statements would only worsen the situation.
