MQM chief demands separate province if prejudice against Sindhi Urdu speakers continues

KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Chief Altaf Hussain on Friday demanded equal rights for Urdu and Sindhi speaking population of Sindh and said that if you don’t like Sindhi Urdu speakers than make a separate province for them.

In his address to the party workers in Hyderabad on Friday evening, the MQM chief said that if things don’t improve demand for province can turn into a demand for a separate country.

The MQM chief severally criticized the Sindh government regarding new delimitations before the local bodies elections, and alleged that Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) wants to keep away from the polls.

Hussain said that the MQM will not tolerate tactics of force in politics and alleged that the PPP is involved in discriminating against the Urdu speaking population. He said that the provincial government wants to push half of the province’s population into the Arabian Sea.

Meanwhile, the MQM chief advised the PPP’s patron-in-chief Bilawal Bhutto Zardari to behave like a nephew if he pretends to be one.

MQM chief suggested that the issues should be resolved on a negotiating table rather than on social-networking platforms, demanding an equal share for the urban population of the province.
