LAHORE, Pakistan: The Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a telephonic conversation with his Pakistani Counterpart Nawaz Sharif on Sunday and expressed grief over the loss of precious lives in the Lahore blast.
In his remarks during walks with Sharif, Modi said that coward terrorists had targeted females and kids which was highly condemnable and regrettable.
Narendra Modi said that the people of India stand with their Pakistani brethren in this hour of grief.
Earlier in the evening, a suicide bomber blew himself up in the parking area near Gate No 1 of Gulshan-e-Iqbal Park located in Lahore’s Allama Iqbal Town and killed more than 60 persons mostly women and children.
The outlawed terror organization Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) Jamaatul Ahrar was involved in the blast which was strongly condemned by all political leadership and people from all walks of life.
Punjab government announces three-day mourning
Meanwhile, the Punjab government announced to observe three days of mourning over the Gulshan-e-Iqbal Park blast.
In a notification, the District Coordination Officer (DCO) Lahore Captain (retd) Muhammad Usman announced that the national flag will fly half mast on all public/official buildings in the provincial capital for three days in mourning of the victims of blast.
The DCO Lahore also announced that all city markets and bazaars would remain closed on Monday to show respects to the victims and solidarity with the bereaved families.
Security further tightened across Punjab
The security has further been beefed up across the Punjab province after the blast.
Sources said that security of all educational, security and public buildings as well as sensitive installations has also been tightened.
