Mobile services partially suspended in Islamabad without intimation on Independence Day

Islamabad, Pakistan: Mobile Telecommunication services were partially suspended in Islamabad which is capital of Pakistan without any intimation to consumers and users on Independence Day.

The reason for suspending mobile telephone services in E-11, F-11, F-10, F-9, F-8, G-5, G-6 and other sectors was a security measure during Air show of Pakistan Air Force that was conducted over Air Show at F-9 Park Islamabad. Chinese Vice Prime Minister was present in capital who attended Flag Hosting Ceremony at Convention Centre Islamabad along with President of Pakistan Mamnoon Hussain at morning. It may be mentioned outdoor Flag Hosting Ceremony was postponed and venue was shifted to Convention Centre Islamabad a night before the event.

All mobile services including voice and data transfer, telephone calls and SMS services were abruptly suspended around 11.30 AM.

Suspension of mobile services in Pakistan on national days is a normal event due to security reasons but users are informed a day before such termination or suspension of services.

Pakistan is fighting a war against terrorism since year 2006 and National Parade on national days were suspended in past due to fear of terrorism. However, such National events had restarted after Pakistan Army launched operation Zarb-e-Azb against terrorists in restive tribal areas. Pakistan believes that it has largely won war against terrorism but terror attacks are yet to be controlled completely however frequency has been dropped sharply. It is pertinent to mention that terrorists were practically free to attack of target of their own choice before Pakistan Army launched operation Zarb-e-Azb and successfully broke down terror networking.
