RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: It’s been over 10 days since the influential religious scholar and former Senator Maulana Samiul Haq was killed in Rawalpindi; however, the police has failed to reach his murderers till now.

The 81-year-old Maulana Samiul Haq was resting at his residence in Bahria Town, Rawalpindi on November 2 when he was stabbed to death.

Soon after the assassination of the Chief of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Sami (JUI-S) Maulana Samiul Haq, the Rawalpindi police initiated a probe and also questioned a couple of persons linked with Maulana.

Meanwhile, the police has now official involved Maulana Samiul Haq’s Secretary Syed Ahmed Shah in the investigation, and sent a written order to him as well.

However, according to some reports, Syed Ahmed Shah has been missing from his house in Akora Khattak (the hometown of Maulana Samiul Haq as well) for the last three or four days.

The Dawn News reported citing his family claims that Ahmed Sha was picked up by the law enforcement agencies (LEAs); however, the police has dined that it has him in its custody.

The reports said that Syed Ahmed Shah was the first person who informed Maulana Samiul Haq’s son Maulana Hamidul Haq Haqqani about his father’s death.

It is worth noting that the family of Maulana Samiul Haq did not allow autopsy of the late JUI-S Chief so the case became weak because the Medico-Legal Case (MLC) must need the autopsy report.

As per the initial probe, two kitchen knives were used to kill Maulana Samiul Haq so it did not look like that some killers came and killed him by planning. The initial investigation also didn’t find any sign of resistance during the murder attempt.

In addition, doctors and police were not allowed to even take blood samples of the deceased so it would never establish circumstances that why the resistance didn’t occur.
