Mass evacuation started as cyclonic storm Fani will hit Puri District of Odisha tonight

Reports coming from Puri District of Odisha indicates that cyclonic storm Fani is reaching Puri District anytime tonight with a gusty wind having speed of 200 kilometres per hour.

Around one million people are have started evacuation and state authorities are helping them but number is so huge that finding transportation has become a serious issue for people.

Indian Meteorological Department stated that 10,000 villages and 52 towns in Odisha are under threat of Fani with heavy rain fall and surge in sea water as higher as five feet to seven feet tomorrow morning.

Fani will be equivalent in strength to a Category 3 to 4 hurricane and can destroy of livelihood of over 100 million people if it moves towards Bangladesh.

State government said that over 3,000 shelters in schools, colleges and other government buildings have been set up to accommodate more than a million people.

If Fani continues to follow its pathway of reaching towards Odisha, then it will move towards West Bengal and then land at Bangladesh.

Indian Met office warned that very heavy rains are expected in all the coastal districts and flash floods are expected.

A wind having speed of over 200 Km per hour would surely destroy everything which will come on it way including houses, power and communication poles, crops and railway tracks.
