LAHORE: Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) Punjab chief Mian Manzoor Wattoo has quit his post over party’s failure to grab sufficient seats from Punjab in May 11 general elections.

Wattoo, whose resignation came a day after former Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani and Punjab Governor Makhdoom Ahmed Mahumd quit their respective posts, has dispatched his resignation to the party’s chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.

Meanwhile, another PPP senior leader Aitzaz Ahsan on Tuesday offered to resign from his Senate seat following PPP’s defeat in Lahore.

“My wife has lost in my constituency. I will write to party and offer to resign from senatorship,” he told reporters on Tuesday. “It will be up to the party to accept or reject my resignation.”
