Live update Faisalabad shutdown: PML-N, PTI workers clash

FAISALABAD, Pakistan: The clashes took place in Faisalabad on Monday between the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers as the latter resorted to shutdown the textile city while one PTI worker was killed and several others injured.

The PTI-led by Imran Khan has appealed to traders, transporters and citizens to join its shutdown strike call in Faisalabad on December 8 as a part of its efforts to press the government to launch an investigation into alleged rigging in 2013 general elections.

In a statement, the Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that nobody will be allowed to cause disruption in the name of protest and anybody taking law into own hands will be dealt with iron hands.

The chief minister said that doing business with full freedom is the right of every citizen and government will provide every possible protection to traders and businessmen.
