LHC declares Imran, Qadri’s demands as unconstitutional

LAHORE, Pakistan: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday declared the demands by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and the Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) as unconstitutional.

In its nine-page verdict in the case against the PTI’s Azadi march and the PTA’s Inqalab march, the high court declared unconstitutional both the parties’ demands which are as follows:

  • The Prime Minister of Pakistan should resign;
  • The Parliament of Pakistan be dissolved;
  • The Election Commission be re-constituted; and
  • The Interim government of technocrats be formed and election be held.

The LHC observed that leaders and activists of PTI and PAT could face legal action in case the constitution was violated.
