LB polls: SC orders to authorize delimitation powers to ECP

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Wednesday ordered to authorize delimitation powers to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

A three-member bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani announced its verdict in a case related to the local bodies elections in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Sindh provinces.

In its verdict, the apex court ordered the federation and the provincial governments to complete legislation about local bodies elections in five months.

Moreover, the apex court said that the provinces should complete holding of local bodies polls till November 15.
