KPK LB polls: Election campaign gains momentum as polling day comes closer

PESHAWAR, Pakistan: As the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa local bodies polling day on May 30 is approaching closer, the election campaign across the northwestern province is gaining momentum and candidates are visiting door to door to muster support of maximum people.

In a statement, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Election Commission said that a total of 84,420 candidates will contest on 41,762 seats across the province.

The commission said that a total of 11,211 polling stations will be set up including 3,059 for female.

The election commission has declared 2,968 polling stations as most sensitive for local bodies elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. It also declared 4,371 polling stations as sensitive in the province.

It further said that under the local government act 2013, in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa election for village and neighborhood council will be held on non-party basis while for district and tehsil level on party basis.

In addition, the district administrations have chalked out comprehensive security plan to maintain peaceful atmosphere on polling day.

The polling will take place on May 30 and the results will be announced on June 7.
