PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government on Friday approved a series of protests against drone strikes and announced that it would stage sit-in protest against drone strikes in front of United Nation offices and US embassies in various cities of Pakistan, the provincial information minister Shah Farman said.

The decision was taken at a meeting of provincial cabinet presided over by Chief Minister Pervez Khattak in Peshawar on Friday which discussed the aftermaths of Thursday’s missile attack in Tal area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Hangu district, which left six people dead.

Talking to media persons in Peshawar, the provincial information minister said that during the meeting, the provincial cabinet decided that it would stage sit-in protest against drone strikes in front of United Nation offices and US embassies in various cities of Pakistan.

Farman said that the cabinet also decided that the provincial government will also hold protests in Peshawar city and one outside Parliament House in Islamabad. He said the KPK cabinet formed a three-member committee to organize the announced protests.

However, he said, the provincial cabinet did not specify any date for holding the protest.

The provincial information minister said that the cabinet will also write a letter to federal government to express its concerns about the continuation of missile strikes.
