Kazakhstan declared June 9 as National Mourning
Astana, Kazakhstan: President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev has declared today June 9, 2016 as national mourning in connection with the deaths of soldiers and civilians as a result of a terrorist attack in the city of Aktobe.
Nursultan Nazarbayev passed a Presidential decree for observing national mourning during his speech to his nation on Wednesday.
During his speech he claimed that terrorists had been arrested or killed and there was no reason for any concerns for the people as the situation is completely under control.
He indicated that terror attacks in Kazakhstan were designed outside the country and certain powers want to destabilise Kazakhstan as such powers destabilise other former Soviet republics through “colour revolutions”.
Independence demands to protect, strengthen and develop the country and demands more responsible conduct from citizen and the unity of the people is must to protect the country. “Construction of the unrest in the country like “color revolutions” in many other countries (referring Georgia and Ukraine) you know”, he indicated.
He was of the view that terror attacks had linked with radical, pseudo-religious teachings who were instructed from abroad.
He expressed his condolences to the families and relatives od dead and ordered for maximum official support to bereaved families.
He indicated that his government will consider new legislation against extremism and terrorism to suppress this trend ruthlessly.
“Now is a time to show patriotism to the country you. Security and integrity of our people have the time to demonstrate that we are ready to do everything. Security and stability, peace and harmony – the most important value”, he indicated in his address to the nation.
Oil rich Kazakhstan is facing numerous problems since March and country saw series of protests against Privatisation of land legislation and then President had to withdraw the implementation of Privatisation of Land legislation. Now recent terrorist attacks are playing havoc with economy because international investors are losing interest in one of the biggest mega event Expo-2017 scheduled to be held in Astana.
Political observers claim that certain powers have started their work for regime change in Kazakhstan as they did in Ukraine.
