Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani has expressed the hope that completion of technical projects in tribal areas will help root out terrorism by providing education and economic opportunities to the youth.

Inaugurating a technical college at Khar‚ Bajaur on Friday‚ he thanked UAE for their support to launch technical projects in the area.

The college will provide diploma level technical education for upto 450 students in various disciplines of Engineering including electrical‚ mechanical‚ civil and mining.

Later‚ COAS went to Shamozai‚ Swat where he inaugurated Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Bridge at the site of the old Shamozai Bridge.

Almost 2 million people of Swat will be facilitated by the construction of this bridge.

This project was completed by Frontier Works Organization at the cost of 897.4 Million rupees in 1.5 years.
