MUZAFFARABAD: People of Jammu and Kashmir and from across the Line of Control (LOC) Saturday rejected Indian Premier Naendera Modi’s so-called package to normalize the situation in held Kashmir by bringing out impressive protest rallies in Srinagar and Muzaffarabad.
They brought out these rallies against his visit despite imposition of curfew in Held Srinagar.
Veteran Kashmiri leader Syed Ali Gilani said in a telephonic message from his house that despite curfew, besieging the city by turning it into a army garrison, the puppet regime could not stop the people to come out and prove that the Kashmir issue was not a economic one but a political issue.
He said hundreds of Hurriyat activists including the senior leadership were put under arrest prior to his arrival but hundreds of thousand people came out in different parts of Held Srinagar including women despite the curfew.
He said the Kashmiris were demanding the right to self-determination for more than six decades and added issue could only be resolved through the exercise of this right by the people.
He said the purpose of these rallies was to highlight and clarify this fact to international community.
He said that the people had shown that they do not want to live with India and were determined to carry on struggle till the achievement of goal and mere benefits cannot change their will.
In Muzaffarabad, a big protest rally was organized by political organizations led by AJK Finance Minister Chaudhary Latif Akbar which marched from Central Press Club to UN Observers Mission office at Domel.
Hundreds of protesters participated in the rally who chanted slogans against Indian occupation in front of UN Observer mission office and demanded the United Nations to fulfill its pledges with the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Finance Minister AJK Chaudhary Latif Akbar while addressing the rally, said the Modi was a representative of extremists in India and his rule could trigger a war in the region.
Other speakers while addressing on the occasion said that Modi was interested only in land and resources of Kashmir not in Kashmiris as Indian forces were committing brutalities on them and Hindu extremists had put restrictions on minority even in India.
They said Modi’s arrival was a bit fraud to show the world community that the Kashmiris were with him but this attempt was foiled by the people by coming out on streets against his arrival.
Protest rallies were also brought in other cities and towns of Azad Kashmir such as Mirpur, Kotli, Plundry, Rawalakot and Bagh.
