AsiaKarachiites out against ‘massive rigging’

Karachi: A large number of the PTI supporters and people from all walks of life protested against the alleged rigging, demanding the Election Commission of Pakistan for re-polling in three constituencies in Karachi. The Dispatch News Desk (DND) reports.

After a meeting of the PTI leaders here on Sunday, the party workers and citizens took to streets in Clifton and staged a rally at Teen Talwar Roundabout, protesting against what they called the massive rigging in NA-250, NA-252 and NA-253 constituencies. They demanded the ECP to address the issue and ensure re-polling in the constituencies.

Arif Alvi, PTI candidate for NA-250, said voting on various women polling stations faced a 3-hour delay and the voters were given only two to three hours to exercise their constitutional right. As a result, a large number of the citizens could not cast their votes.

Alvi said the PTI candidates were expected to win heavy mandate but some undemocratic elements rigged the electoral process. He demanded the ECP to ensure strict security measures at 42 polling stations of NA-250 where re-polling has already been announced.

The rally participants were confident that the PTI would clinch NA-250 and other seats if re-polling is ensured under the supervision of Army. They said that some parties are trying to steal the public mandate through threats. They said despite threats, the Karachiites are well aware of their right of vote.
