KARACHI: The Supreme Court of Pakistan has issued an interim order in Karachi unrest implementation case and directed custom officials to investigate and locate 19,000 missing containers.

A three-member bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry was hearing the implementation of Karachi unrest case at the SC’s Karachi registry on Friday.

The bench in its order also directed the authorities to carry out phase-wise checking of legal arms and investigate why these arms were bought and where they have been used.

The apex court directed all the five deputy commissioners of the city to cooperate in the investigation.

Earlier during the proceedings, the court suspended SSP Investigation East Junaid Shaikh for remaining absent. He was due to appear in the court to present the investigation report before the bench on the murder case of Shera Pathan, the member of Arshad Pappu gang.

The court was informed by Attorney General of Pakistan Muneer A Malik that the federal government has decided to launch a joint operation against arms and drugs within 15 days.

Malik said the joint operation would be carried out over the reports of custom intelligence and other organizations.

According to TASS news Agency, Nebenzya said that Moscow will continue to call for an end to violence against Palestinians and will not allow the US to muzzle the UN Security Council as Washington seeks to support Israel's operation in Gaza. "We will continue to stand firmly for ending violence against the Palestinians. Without a shadow of a doubt, we will continue to expose the abuses and sanctimony with which the US is handling the situation.
