ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan while giving his first official response after the Judicial Commission report over alleged rigging in 2013 elections unveiled said that the regret he had is that the Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Nasirul Mulk left the commission unfinished.

“I am disappointed because the chief justice conducted it so well so our expectations were high. We expected him not to leave it half finished,” Imran Khan said in a press conference in Islamabad on Saturday.

Judicial Commission left some things unfinished: Imran Khan

Imran said that the Judicial Commission should have used the Special Investigation Team (SIT) which could investigate roles of returning officials (ROs) in 2013 general elections and missing forms as other parties also had reservations including the PTI.

However, Imran Khan lauded the Judicial Commission for conducting the proceedings in an excellent way.

The PTI Chief also sought the resignation of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), saying that there is no place for the ECP that conducted the 2013 election after this Judicial Commission report.

“There is no place for the election commission of Pakistan in the system anymore after the Judicial Commission highlights their absolute failure,” he said.

“If these incompetent people do not resign they will be the same people conducting upcoming local bodies’ polls.”

Imran Khan said that the Judicial Commission gave the verdict against the ECP, and added that it will help the future course of elections in the country definitely.

“We accepted the result for transparency, for the future course of democracy,” Imran said.

The PTI Chief said that it is not him but Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif who should apologies over the Judicial Commission report as all political parties agree there was rigging in 2013 general elections.

“Nawaz Sharif you are the one who should apologies. The Judicial Commission says our demand was legitimate so you should have facilitated it before,” Imran said.

Imran said that so much propaganda has been done by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) that the PTI wasted two years. He said that in fact two years built awareness among the public.

Imran Khan asked that even if they say two years were wasted, who is responsible? He said that even Nawaz Sharif said that there was rigging but refused to do anything about it.

Moreover, Imran said that they tried to defame the army saying the sit-in was an army conspiracy. He asked that was I going to become the prime minister if they had investigated four constituencies?.

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chief further said that now they will see how we are an opposition in the assemblies and what real governance is about in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa In Shah Allah.

“We will show the whole country what real change is with the example we are setting in KPK,” he added.
