PoliticsJI Chief Sirajul Haq resigns from his party position

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Sirajul Haq has announced to relinquish his post as the Emir of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI).

In a brief statement on X on Monday, Sirajul Haq said that though he made untiring efforts to yield desired results in February 8 general elections, he accepts responsibility of the debacle of Jamaat-e-Islami in the polls and, therefore, has resigned from the post of JI Chief.

It’s worth noting that Sirajul Haq even himself lost the election from NA-6 Lower Dir. He managed to receive 56,538 votes in his home Constituency.

From NA-6, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-nominated Muhammad Bashir Khan won the election by securing 81,060 votes.

Earlier, the JI Chief rejected the election results, and sought immediate resignation of the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja over the latter’s failure to conduct free and fair general elections and issuance of fake results.
