RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: The newly appointed Japan’s Special Representative of UN Secretary General for Afghanistan Ambassador Tadamichi Yamamoto called on the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif at the army’s general headquarters in Rawalpindi on Friday.Japan’s Special Representative of UN Secretary General for Afghanistan Ambassador Tadamichi Yamamoto  and General Raheel Sharif

In a press release, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that the dignitaries discussed matters related to security situation in Afghanistan and prospects for peace with particular emphasis on reconciliation process in Afghanistan during the meeting.

The ambassador also appreciated successes of ongoing operation Zarb-e-Azb and acknowledged the sacrifices and efforts by Pakistani security forces for peace and stability in the region.
