PakistanJamshed Dasti indicted in the fake degrees case

MUZAFFARGARH: Former Pakistan Peoples’ Party’s (PPP) parliamentarian Jamshed Dasti was indicted on Monday in the fake degree case, Dispatch News Desk (DND) reported.

Abdur Rehman Khan Niazi, the judge of District and Session court, framed charges against Dasti on the request of regional election commissioner of Multan.

The petitioner argued that the former MNA, who submitted his nomination papers in Muzaffargarh on Sunday, contested in 2008 elections on a fake degree and he should be tried on the charges of forgery.

Jamshed Dasti, former member of National Assembly from Muzaffargarh, on March 15, had announced his departure from PPP. He said that he would contest in general elections as independent candidate from NA 177 and 178.

The former MNA further said that former Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar and her father opposed him in by-polls that took place in 2010, adding that he had told the party leadership that he would contest elections against Khar.
