WorldJakarta rocked by blasts, four dead

JAKARTA, Indonesia: Seven persons including a police officer, three civilians and three militants were reportedly killed when a series of blasts rocked the Indonesian Capital Jakarta on Thursday.

The media reports said that a total of four explosions occurred, of which three took place in the Cikni, Silpi and Kuningan neighbourhoods near the Pakistani and Turkish embassies.

The reports said that three suicide bombers detonated their explosives.

The Indonesian President Joko Widodo called the blasts “acts of terror,” saying he had ordered a huntdown and capture of the perpetrators and those in their network.

“Our nation and our people should not be afraid, we will not be defeated by these acts of terror, I hope the public stay calm,” the president said in his televised address.

“We all are grieving for the fallen victims of this incident, but we also condemn the act that has disturbed the security and peace and spread terror among our people.”
