ANKARA, Turkey: In a suicide attack, at least 10 persons including 9 German were killed while 15 others sustained injuries in Turkish city of Istanbul on Tuesday.

The blast occurred near Sultanahmet square of Istanbul’s Fatih district.

“There are at least nine Germans among the 10 killed,” the official told AFP.

Meanwhile, the Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu convened an emergency security meeting of key ministers and officials including Interior Minister Efkan Ala and spy chief Hakan Fidan after the suspected attack on Istanbul’s tourist hub of Sultanahmet.

President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in their separate statements strongly condemned the terror attack in Istanbul, and said that the people and Government of Pakistan stand firmly with their Turkish brethren at this hour of grief.

The Foreign Office also strongly condemned the bomb blast in Istanbul, saying that Pakistan condemns terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.
