ISLAMABAD: Parts of upper areas in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab including the federal capital have been rattled by a 6.4-magnitude earthquake early this morning.

The jolts were felt in Islamabad and areas in its vicinity, Swat, Dir, Chitral, Malakand division. The tremors were recorded in today’s wee hours at 3.55 PST.

The tremors left people in many areas in a state of panic and shock. The panicked people rushed out of their houses reciting kalmia. However, no report regarding the loss of life and property was received.

The epicenter of the earthquake was centered at a depth of 75 kilometers in border between Afghanistan and Tajikistan.
