The Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar has asked the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to return to the National Assembly and play its role for electoral reforms.

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar has asked the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to return to the National Assembly and play its role for electoral reforms.

Talking to the media representatives in Islamabad on Saturday, the minister said that the federal government has fulfilled its responsibility on constitution of judicial commission.

The minister said that the PTI should now refrain from issuing political statements on election rigging.

His statement came a day after President Mamnoon Hussain on the advice of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif issued an ordinance for setting up a judicial commission to probe rigging allegedly took place in May 2013 general elections.

The ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and the PTI on Wednesday night signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to constitute a judicial commission that will investigate allegations of rigging in the 2013 general elections.

The judicial commission on election rigging will submit its report within 45 days.

The finance minister further said that every possible effort is being made to achieve the revenue target set for the current fiscal year. He said that Rs1,538 billion have so far been collected in taxes.
