QUETTA, Pakistan: The Iranian President Hassan Rouhani would visit Pakistan soon, the Iranian Sistan-Baluchestan province Governor Aaqai Ali Osat Hashemi said.

In a meeting with the Chief Minister Balochistan Dr Abdul Malik Baloch in Quetta on Friday, the governor said that Iran values its relations with Pakistan and wants to strengthen relations.

“Tehran is making serious efforts in this direction,” the governor said and urged Islamabad to take effective reciprocal steps.

Hashemi further said that Pakistani and Iranian authorities discussed the Pak-Iran gas pipeline project in Islamabad last month.

“Things are moving in right direction,” he said.

In addition, he said that Iran wants to supply electricity and gas to Balochistan and invited the Balochistan chief minister to visit Tehran.

On the occasion, the Balochistan chief minister thanked Iran for supplying 70 megawatt of electricity to Gwadar district and said that 40 megawatts could be added to the system.

Dr Malik requested the Iranian governor to speed up the process of supplying 100 megawatts to Gwadar and 1,000 megawatts to Balochistan which would resolve energy crisis in the province.
