Herat, Afghanistan: Iranian guards shot and killed 10 and injured another 12 Afghan immigrants trying to illegally cross the border from the western province of Heart overnight. The Dispatch News Desk (DND) reported.

The Iranian interior minister confirmed there were “maybe around 200 people” total. Several wounded laborers were brought to a district hospital in Farah. The incident provoked a mass rally Sunday, with dozens of local residents coming in the streets of the provincial Afghan capital. About 2.4 million Afghans live in Iran, many of whom moved after the 1979 Soviet invasion of Afghanistan.
