Iran seeks enhanced trade cooperation with Pakistan: Rouhani

TEHRAN: Pakistan and Iran are looking forward to utilize their potential to enhance cooperation in trade and economy commensuration with the political goodwill, the Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said.

The Iranian president made these remarks while talking to Chairman Senate Syed Nayyar Hussain Bokhari and Deputy Speaker National Assembly Murtaza Javed Abbasi on the sidelines of the 9th meeting of the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Tehran.

The two-day meeting is being attended by some 28 parliament speakers, 14 vice-speakers and 47 parliamentary delegations from Muslim states.

Rouhani warmly welcomed the Pakistani dignitaries and expressed best regards for the Pakistani leadership.

Highlighting importance of bilateral relations with common history, culture and religion, the Iranian president shared his vision of further cementing these ties.

Meanwhile, the Senate Chairman said that Pakistan also shared his vision to focus on enhanced cooperation in trade and economy and for a roadmap to achieve it.
