Ankara: Abdullah Gul, the President Turkey confirms that trade between Iran and Turkey will continue to increase in forthcoming years.
While meeting outgoing Iranian Ambassador to Ankara Bahman Hosseinpour, Gul was of the view that both countries have great potentials to improve mutual trade relations, reports Dispatch News Desk (DND).
Hosseinpour, added that the value of trade exchanges between Iran and Turkey surpassed 20 billion dollars in 2012 and emphasized that the two countries presented a clear example of relations of good neighborliness, friendship and understanding to the region.

The value of the Iran-Turkey trade exceeded USD 16 billion in 2011. The two countries plan to increase the level of their bilateral trade volume to USD 30 billion by 2015.

Western Media claims that couriers carrying millions of dollars worth of gold bullion in their luggage have been flying from Istanbul to Dubai, where the gold is shipped on to Iran, according to industry sources with knowledge of the business.

The sums involved are enormous. Official Turkish trade data suggests nearly $2 billion worth of gold was sent to Dubai on behalf of Iranian buyers in August 2012. The shipments help Tehran manage its finances in the face of Western financial sanctions.
