Indian foreign secretary to visit Pakistan on March 3

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Indian Foreign Secretary S. Jaishankar will pay a two-day visit to Pakistan from March 3, the Foreign Office said on Wednesday.

“Pursuant to Prime Minister Modi’s call to Premier Nawaz Sharif on 13 February, 2015, Indian Foreign Secretary Mr S. Jaishankar would visit Pakistan on 3-4 March, 2015,” the Foreign Office spokesperson Tasneem Aslam said in a statement in Islamabad.

The spokesperson said that during his visit, Jaishankar would hold meeting with the Foreign Secretary Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry. She said that the two sides will discuss all the matters of mutual interest.

On February 20, Foreign Office spokesperson said that Pakistan welcomes the Indian prime minister’s decision to send the Foreign Secretary S. Jaishankar to Pakistan.

“Pakistan believes that the issues and disputes between Pakistan and India need to be resolved through dialogue for peace, stability and prosperity in the region,” the Foreign Office spokesperson Tasnim Aslam said in her weekly media briefing in Islamabad on February 20.

“We have never shied away from engaging India,” Aslam said.

The foreign office spokesperson said that foreign secretaries of Pakistan and India will hold talks to discuss all issues of common interest.
