Monitoring Desk: The Indian Embassy of Baku, Azerbaijan has responded to an insulting and outrageous video filmed by a group of Indians at a sacred place for every citizen of Azerbaijan – on the Martyrs’ Alley.

The Indian Embassy said on Monday:

“We condemn such behavior by anybody”.

Formal apology is still awaited from Indian Embassy, reports Eurasian News.

According to details, a group of Indian musicians while visiting Azerbaijan, shot a clip at the Martyrs’ Alley. In filming, Indians are singing and dancing in Martyrs’ Alley—- A Memorial for martyrs who sacrificed their lives for their Motherland and for Freedom from subjugation of Soviet rule.

The clip went viral in news websites and social media and even top officials of Azerbaijan took notice of this heinous crime. The Sabail District Police Department launched an investigation into the matter and Indian Embassy was also approached.

It may be mentioned that Martyrs’ Lane, Alley of Martyrs is a cemetery and memorial in Baku, Azerbaijan dedicated to those killed by the Soviet Army during Black January 1990 and in the Nagorno-Karabakh War of 1988–1994.

It is estimated that approximately 15,000 freedom fighters are resting in the cemetery. It is located on a hill in the south of the city overlooking the Caspian Sea. It is considered a shrine to those who have given their lives for Azerbaijan’s independence and attracts thousands of visitors each year

According to 1news.az, Indians filmed a music video with dancing and funny songs on the Alley of Martyrs without getting permission and without having sense of their heinous act.

1news.az reported on January 10 that Deputy of the Milli Majlis, member of the Political Council of the New Azerbaijan Party Aydin Mirzazade, commenting on this video, stating that such actions by foreigners are simply unacceptable.

 

“This issue must be taken seriously. Persons who shot the clip must be found and deported from the country, and it is forbidden for them to visit Azerbaijan for a long time. It is also necessary to remind the Indian Embassy in Azerbaijan to warn its citizens coming to our country of the need to respect the history and values ​​of Azerbaijan, maintained Aydin Mirzazade emphasized.

On January 13, 2020, Indian Embassy responded this event and said:

” We condemn such behavior by anybody. The Embassy is working with authorities, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, to investigate the matter”.
