New Delhi, India: India will provide training to Afghan policemen.

This was decided during a meeting of Indian Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi with Chief Executive of Afghanistan Abdullah Abdullah here in New Delhi on Thursday.

Abdullah Abdullah is in India on two-day visit and held detail meeting with security officials of India.

The office of Indian Prime Minister in a statement issued at evening said that two leaders exchanged views on the security environment in Afghanistan and the extended region.

Statement further said that both leaders expressed satisfaction over multifaceted strategic partnership between the two countries.

“They discussed enhancing bilateral economic and development cooperation and the abundant opportunities in this regard”, added the statement.

Dr. Abdullah conveyed Afghanistan’s deep appreciation for India’s continuing support for infrastructure development and capacity building in Afghanistan.

Prime Minister reiterated India’s commitment to extend full support to Afghanistan’s efforts for building a peaceful, united, prosperous, inclusive and democratic Afghanistan.

Meanwhile, sources indicate Abdullah Abdullah held an important meeting with National Security Advisor of India Ajit Doval to discuss security demands of Afghanistan.

It is pertinent to mention that India is providing intelligence networking to Kabul government and giving training to officials of Afghan intelligence agency NDS.
