Imran Khan says will accept verdict of judicial commission

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has said that his party will accept the verdict given by the judicial commission formed to investigate alleged rigging in the 2013 general elections.

“We will accept verdict of Judicial Commission, democracy of Pakistan will win,” Imran said while talking to media representatives in Islamabad after he appeared before the commission on Thursday.

Imran Khan said that the judicial commission is a victory for all of Pakistan and democracy will go up on a new level in the country after the commission’s work.

The PTI leader reiterated his stance that the judicial commission will expose May 2013 general polls, and 2015 will see new elections in the country.

Imran said that they will prove in the judicial commission that how results of 2013 elections were changed and what role Returning Officers (ROs) played.

Imran Khan appeared before the commission with his counsels Hafiz Peerzada and Jehangir Tareen and the PTI’s task force to record statements regarding electoral rigging.

Hearing of judicial commission on alleged rigging adjourns till April 22

Earlier, a three-member judicial commission led by the Chief Justice Nasirul Mulk and comprising Justice Amir Hani Muslim and Justice Ejaz Afzal held the hearing regarding 2013 elections rigging in Islamabad on Thursday.

The commission order 21 participating parties including the PTI to present related evidence to support their statements regarding poll rigging.

It said that investigation in the case will take place according to the terms of reference in the Ordinance issued by President Mamnoon Hussain.

The judicial commission also sought records pertaining to thumbprint verification in 37 constituencies from the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) Chairman Usman Yusuf and ordered for these to be submitted within three days’ time.
