ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Thursday expressed his willingness to change the venue and date of protest from Raiwind, Lahore to somewhere else in consultation with the opposition leadership.
Talking to reporters outside Parliament House in Islamabad, he said he can change the protest plan on September 24 saying it is not necessary to hold protest at Raiwind. He wanted to take along the opposition and ready to cooperate with the opposition.
He said Raiwind was the part of the country like other places of the country and PTI was planning peaceful protest there.
PTI Chief Imran Khan said he was working for the strengthening of democratic process and possible steps would be taken to achieve the goal.
Replying to another question, he said “I don’t consider Ayaz Sadiq as Speaker of the National Assembly anymore owing to his partiality.”
Members of parliament (MPs) had already urged Imran Khan to avoid protest on September 24 as Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif was going to the United Nations to highlight human rights violations being committed by the Indian forces against the people of occupied Kashmir.
The protest outside residence of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif would give a wrong message to the world though it was need of the hour to give a clear message to the world that all leadership of the country was on same page on Kashmir issue.
They said Imran Khan should change his protest plan and extend cooperation to the government in national interest.
Parliamentarians asked Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) chief to choose some other place for protest.
