Imran Farooq murder case will be taken to its logical end: Nisar

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Federal Minister for Interior Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has said that Dr Imran Farooq murder case will be taken to its logical end keeping aside politics.

Talking to media representatives in Islamabad on Wednesday, Nisar said that cooperation is being extended to the United Kingdom in the case related to the murder of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Dr Imran Farooq by remaining within the parameters of law and the constitution.

The minister said that they are extending cooperation according to international agreements. He said that there is treaty with Britain regarding exchange of criminals.

On Monday, the primary suspect in Imran Farooq murder case, Moazzam Ali, was arrested from Karachi on intelligence information. Yesterday, he was produced in an anti-terrorism court (ATC) which handed over him to Rangers on 90 days remand.

The interior minister said that the Imran Farooq murder case is very sensitive and arrest of central figure in the case is an important development. He said that performance of institutions of Pakistan in this regard is very important.

In reply to a question, he said that there was no link between his Tuesday’s meeting with the British High Commissioner Philip Barton and the MQM’s Chief Altaf Hussain appearance before the London Police in money laundering case. He said that the meeting was already scheduled.
