Imran to challenge appointment of NADRA new chairman

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan said on Friday that he would challenge the appointment of new chairman of the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA).

In his address to press conference in Islamabad on Friday, Imran said that former NADRA chairman Tariq Malik was pressurized by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government into resigning, as he mentioned about pressure in his meeting with PTI leaders Shah Mahmood Qureshi and Shireen Mazari.

The government is afraid of verification of thumb prints and wants to bring his hand-picked NADRA chairman,” Imran said. He said that people would take to streets if government did not verify votes through thumb impressions.

The PTI chairman said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif should convene an all-party conference (APC) and inform the parties about status of peace talks with the Taliban.

Talking about the polio virus in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Imran said that polio had been a problem for several years and not just the last six months.

Imran further said that some of the blame lay with Dr Shakil Afridi as people had now become suspicious of health workers.
