EuropeHussain Haqqani expresses dissatisfaction over security measures in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s former envoy to US Hussain Haqqani on Tuesday expressed his dissatisfaction over the security measures adopted by the security officials for his protection in Pakistan, Dispatch News Desk (DND) reported.

The security measures taken for his safety on his return to the country were not sufficient, Haqqani said in a letter to the Interior ministry.

Former ambassador said that he was being threatened via email and telephone even in the United States and the US authorities were investigating into it, adding that Pakistan’s interior and foreign office department could confirm this from US.

Haqqani, the main accused in the memogate scandal, said that he could not show confidence on the state machinery which has constantly failed to protect Pakistani citizens.

“How could I trust state machinery, which has failed to safeguard the interests of the people, to take care of my safety?”

“The law cannot force any person to put his life at risk and the recent security measurements taken by the country’s security officials for my safety are not sufficient,” he said.
