ISLAMABAD: A high level meeting was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in Islamabad on Tuesday to discuss matters pertaining to national and regional security.
The Adviser to the Prime Minister on National Security and Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif, Chief of General Staff Lt General Nadeem Ahmed and Director General military operations Major General Amir Riaz attended the meeting.
During the meeting, the army chief briefed the participants regarding his talks with the NATO and International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) commanders, and Afghan leadership in Kabul a day ago.
The sources said that the meeting reviewed the security situation along the Pak-Afghan border and pondered over the future strategy after the possible withdrawal of NATO forces from Afghanistan.
