ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: A high-level meeting was held in Islamabad on Tuesday to discuss formulation of a comprehensive strategy for rehabilitation of the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and reconstruction of the areas where the military operation is being carried out.
The meeting was presided over by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif while the Director General Military Operation (DGMO) Major General Amir Riaz gave a detailed presentation on the prevailing situation.
During the meeting, the prime minister said that the IDPs have given great sacrifices for the stability of Pakistan and Pakistan will look after their needs by reconstructing a better area for these displaced persons when they return.
The prime minister further said that the ongoing military operation Zarb-e-Azb in the North Waziristan tribal region has inflicted a fatal blow to terrorists.
The Pakistan’s army launched a full-fledged operation on June 15 against various outlawed terrorist organizations in the tribal region as a part of efforts to end militancy from the country.
“Pakistan’s armed forces have rendered exemplary sacrifices in this operation,” the prime minister said.
Sharif expressed hope that peace restored as a result of this operation would also contribute towards ensuring peace in the entire region.
The meeting was attended by Army Chief General Raheel Sharif, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sardar Mehtab Ahmed Khan, Federal Minister for SAFRON, Lt. General (retd) Abdul Qadir Baloch, Advisor to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs and National Security, Sartaj Aziz and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Tariq Fatemi.
