Monitoring Desk: Has Turkey recognized the Interim Afghan Government?
This question has surfaced as the list of participants of Antalya Diplomacy Forum 2022 (ADF 2022) shows the participation of Afghan delegation head Amir Khan Muttaqi as “Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Interim Government of Afghanistan”.
Inviting and accepting Muttaqi as acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Interim Government of Afghanistan surely suggest that Turkey accepts the status of the interim government of Afghanistan otherwise any other title could have been given like self-proclaimed interim government etc.
Muttaqi will attend a session titled “Afghanistan– How to cope with new realities”. The session will discuss issues related to Afghanistan in cooperation with the Munich Security Conference. The ADF 2022 document says that Afghanistan is once again in turmoil. Invasions, outside interference, or military operations have all failed and exacerbated the chaos. If we do not want a failed state in the Heart of Asia, the international community must find ways to cope with new realities.
Diplomacy Forum is being held on 11-13 March 2022 under the dark clouds of the Russia-US/NATO standoff in Ukraine.
