ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Muhammad Asif has said the government is committed to overcome energy crisis and attract foreign investment in the country.

In an interview on Wednesday‚ he said the top priority of the government to provide cheap electricity to the people by utilizing coal and hydro sources.

Khawaja Asif said to overcome the energy crisis‚ the government has decided to increase power tariff for industrial sector in coming months and will provide cheap electricity to domestic consumers.

He said the energy crisis would be resolved in next three years and the government has initiated different coal plants and hydro electric projects to end load-shedding.

He said a number of steps are underway to create conducive environment for foreign investment to meet not only the energy needs of the country but also set up industries to provide jobs to the people.

To a question‚ the Minister said the government wants to maintain peace in the country through negotiation with all stakeholders.
